OCD and Anxiety Specialist
(Bilingual English-Spanish)
I am a bilingual therapist (English-Spanish) specializing in OCD and anxiety-related disorders, with extensive experience working with adults, children, and families. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, focusing on helping clients build awareness of their condition and functioning, develop healthy coping strategies, and provide psychological support that empowers them to take charge of their lives. My goal is to help individuals become the best version of themselves by promoting healthy behaviors and encouraging self-compassion, and acceptance of one's true self, helping them cultivate emotional resilience and well-being.
With over five years of experience working with families of children facing learning and behavioral challenges, I began my career as an education advocate and later transitioned to counseling in community mental health settings, treatment centers, and outpatient clinics.
For individuals, I provide evidence-based therapies such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), and traditional DBT.
For families, I offer Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), an evidence-based approach designed to help parents effectively support their children's emotional needs. In situations where a family member resists help or struggles with transitioning to independence and adulthood, I provide specialized approaches such as SPACE-FTL (Failure to Launch) and The Family Wellbeing Approach. Additionally, SPACE has been successfully adapted to address other anxiety-related challenges, including Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
Additionally, I work with parents and caregivers of the identified patient using Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to help release feelings of guilt and shame that may be hindering their loved one’s progress.
